A solo exhibition by Oslo based artist Marianne Hurum that looks at portraiture painting from a class perspective – its history and tradition, as well as its cultural and political significance. Hurum's work is characterised by a deep formal research into the painterly medium alongside a playful and existential approach to artistic creation. Employing various artistic expressions such as painting, installation, sculpture and found material Hurum succeeds in blending artistic research with imaginative and political thinking in a highly compelling way. Her practice is fuelled by ethics of loneliness and solidarity and her belief in painting rests on a conviction in art as a place for the present and history to be registered.
